Educational Websites

Technology is a crucial aspect of our students’ learning in and out of the classroom. St. Margaret of Scotland School utilizes various educational websites to help enrich and review material and lessons taught in the classrooms. Students are able to use these educational websites during school hours and after school hours at home. If you need your child’s login information please contact your child’s teacher and he/she will be able to provide it for you.

ST Math: Math website and app for K-2nd grade.

Everyday Math: The curriculum the preschool through 6th grade uses for math. This website has all the student textbooks, homework, help and games.

Typing Club A site to help students learn and practice their typing skills. Typing is a key skill for success in high school, college and the work place. Students can use this site at school and at home.

Newsela – A site dedicated to reading comprehension and skill level. Students can practice and improve their ability and comprehension while keeping up to date on the latest national and international news. Students can also dialogue with their classmates and other students by commenting on the articles they read. Teachers can monitor and analyze each student’s progress through quizzes and site metrics.

Mathletics – A math website where students ages 5 to 18 an practice their math skills in over 1000 activities. The site covers all aspects of mathmatics in a way that is both fun and engaging. Students can challenge their peers at school and from around the world in games of speed and agility, all while getting faster at math.

No Red Ink – An intractive ELA (English & Language Arts) website designed to help students improve their language stills with engaging activities and to help teachers track their students’ progress.

Study Island – A site dedicated to monitoring students’ progress with state standards and preparing them for the standardized tests they will be taking at the end of the year.

Think Through Math – A math site for 6th-8th graders at SMOS. Students are able to practice and review math topics taught in class during the day.

Khan Academy – A free online school with thousands of video tutorials, lessons, and activites in subjects ranging from history and basic algebra to British Literature and Quantum Physics. This is great resource for students to review and practice concepts learned in school and look deeper into topics of particular interest. This is great for both students and parents to brush up on skills as well as to explore new ideas.

Studdy Ladder – A comprehensive study aid for kids from Pre-K through Seventh Grade covering a range of 10 subjects including Math and Social Studies. The school provides logins for most grades.

Starfall – A math and phonics site designed for Pre-K through Second Grade to develop math and reading skills with interactive and entertaining videos, stories, games and more.

ABCya – A learning resource with educational games and activites for Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

Kid Rex – A kid-friendly Google custom search with extra resources for parents from search safety tips to search controls.
